Markets and temples
Just before you enter any temple in India, you have to pass through a market. In some cases, shopping happens right inside the temple complex. Very often I find the markets more interesting.

ha we are planing a trip soon 🙂
Very nice! Thanks Laxmi for sharing.. somehow, I have missed to capture the most obvious things from my (our) country. One suggestion, next time, take a pic of the huge kumkum hills those sit outside temples…
Oh, the food! Beautiful, vivid photos, Lakshmi!
oh what lovely photos!!
Hi Lakshmi!
Nice post. I love temple markets. Usually I buy some prasad there and eat it all by myself. Then atleast I can come home and tell grandma that I got ‘prasad from the temple’! LOL
loved the garland of lemons. What is it for?
love the one outsiude virupaksha temple in hampi. agarbatti, prasad, handmade paper…everything.
Rash
Vishesh – Where ? must be very hot if its TN
Unseen Minds – yea..the chaos is not always tempting to stand round and take a pic..will do..
Jen – Have you tried them..the prasad as we call it..as its supposed to be blessed by the Gods
Patricia – Thanks
priyank – You sound exactly like Sharath. He goes to temples only to eat prasad
Arun – To garland the goddess
Rash – Yup..been there a long while ago..i love the trinkets too

Have hurried by these displays so many times … it’s good to take the time to enjoy them. Maybe next time.
Even I find these shops very fascinating & colorful…. more than the temple.
The first shot is too good.
Yes, there is line of small shops on the both side of the lane to the temple. One can find items which are of interest to all the ages.
