Travel plans – Can you guess this destination ?

I did not travel anywhere in September . And October has been disappointing as travel plans were altered or canceled. I had already dropped out of two trips that were scheduled to happen this month and finally even today’s plans got altered – a simple day trip. But an impulsive decision at 12.30 pm this afternoon took me to the above mentioned destination, a place where I have been wanting to go for ages – any guesses

Update – The guessing game is over and the answer is simple..all you need to do is to click on the picture and it will tell you the location. This Nandi is also the tallest Nandi sculpture in the country. I am talking about Lepakshi…

That looks like Nandi…but not the one in Mysore. Of course, the clues you left pointed to Lepakshi in Andra Pradesh – a place I hadn’t heard of until I looked up Wiki. πŸ™‚

Thanks everyone πŸ™‚ no prizes for guessing this one..its easy and as Arun says the clues are deliberate ..if you click the picture, you can find out as well.It is Lepakshi and the Nandi monolith ( I think so) is the largest Nandi sculpture in the country followed by the Big temple in Tanjore and Chamundi in Mysore. We were planning a day trip to Mysore and we couldnt make it, so a spot decision to drive down to Lepakshi took us here.

I took one look at the photo and I knew where that was…too late for the guessing game. I’ve only ever seen this place in photos…would love to visit it and see it for myself someday.

Lakshmi, The dolls you have arranged look amazing. In Mangalore we do not have this custom so to me this is very intersting and new. My cousin who has lived most her life in Bangalore has arranged these dolls and has invited me to view them.

Lepakshi, is also in my travel plan, because it is so near to Bangalore. Did you drive down there?

It is indeed a nice place to visit. Folks travelling on road to Lepakshi can also visit ‘Veerapuram’ enroute to see some nice birds in the village and the entire trip can be completed in a day. I had started at 6:00AM directly to Lepakshi and had come back via Hindupur and visited Vidurachatram and Ghati Subramanya Temple on the way to arrive back home at 5:00PM

At glance I thought it must be Gangaikoda Cholapuram temple nandi!

No idea about this Lepakshi, very nice capture and seems is made of one rock!
