Every time I go past rural India, I stop by at the village houses. They are simple, functional and have a charm of their own. I know I will find it difficult to adjust to the houses, but I cant stop admiring them. Tell me which one would you like to own.

I have not had too much time to blog or follow posts for the last couple of weeks, but I have been busy with some friends who were visiting. Ive also been tied up with a couple of projects in the travel space and will be sharing them with you guys by the end of this month

Not much of travel and travel writing has happenned either, except that Paramount Airlines published my story on Ashtamudi in their in flight magazine , Windows and Aisles, while my column in the Inside Story in Metro Plus last week was about Darasuram, a Chola town of the 12th century.

Loved all the pictures capturing life in Indian villages and I read your column in The Hindu that you linked. Nice writing, lady!

The last one reminds me of St. Joseph Boys’ Village where I visited a number of years ago. On laundry day the wash was hung over the porches like that. That seems to be a large house for a village.

    charming!
the first one is certainly lovely, but what truly makes these huts real “palaces of the Kingdom of heaven” is the warm n generous hearts and loving smiles of the simple folk living within…
    a life-changing experience! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Beautiful!
I’m mix n match things from different houses and build one for me. I want a courtyard, cowdung smeared floor and little holes in wall for ventilation. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the first photo for that swirly decor accessory ๐Ÿ˜€ Thats one of those silkworm mats isnt it?
Oh yes, and how could I miss the watch-goat?
Flowers really hit the spot for me so that white-washed wall with flowers clambering over it looked oh so charming.
But then, colours do it for me too … and I loved that almost technocolour blast in the last pic.

I and my friend Nisha also think that exploring rural India can be great for our holiday. The most interesting thing is that we r availing the discount of up to 60% offered by the Accor group. Anybody wants to discover India can avail this excellent offer like us. Check this out http://tinyurl.com/n5lnku for details.
