I decided to welcome the new year and celebrate my nth year of existence in this world by going on a day trip to Mysore. Besides the fact that it is one of my favourite cities and I revisited childhood by a visit to the zoo, it is my first trip in 2009. Must say, I was very impressed with the way the zoo was maintained.
We visited a couple of temples enroute and then drove around Mysore taking in the vast empty roads flanked by open spaces. The palace were lit and looking quite festive. I just ambled along and spent most of my time otherwise eating and chilling. 
I am off to Chennai this week and possibly to Kerala this weekend..so will see you soon. Well you already had your first trip so soon. On a related note, I’ve been to Mysore and have seen plenty of ‘places to see’ there, but kinda missed the Zoo. Now it seems my next trip to Mysore will have to include this. Cheers!

Happy New Year! It’s been a long time since I saw the Mysore Palace all lit up during Dussehra. As for the zoo, the one memory I associate with this is not the animals. It was the first time in my life when my pocket was picked. I only came to know when a cop came and asked me if the wallet he was waving in his hand belonged to me. Apparently, they had been tracking a known pickpocket and caught him red-handed. Lucky me!
