India through my eyes – In the days of twitter and FB statuses
I saw this quaint little postbox just before I entered the portals of the Hoysala temple, Somnathpur .One day I told myself, I will shut myself from the digital world and return here , just to send a real post card to myself at least .I did that during my first international trip, when I was 21 and all excited to cover South East Asia and Australia. I sent a post card to my parents from every country and each post card was a souvenir . I didnt have money to buy anything and my memories lie in those post cards
So did you post it yet?
Mridula, I went there a week ago 🙂
Been a while since I saw one of those, thank you!
very interesting… this is the 3rd post i read today about letters and postcards… have been meaning to get samhith to write a letter for a while, but guess i should first set an example, right????
We doesn’t realize it’s worth much these days, and amazing just today I read an interesting piece of info about this letter box which is a replacement of shoes. A Portugal crew whose ship forced to land in South African by a storm and being uncertain about return to home, he wrote a letter describing his situation and kept it in an old shoe and hanged it on a tree, where someone would find to know what happens!
I too had clicked a photo of this in June 2008 but never posted it…Why do they call it cancellation?
I have done that 3-4 times for exactly the same reasons. But did not get all postcards, probably the postman was also interested in them. 😉
enticing!
loved this picture!! I would LOVE to send myself a postcard from here.
Such a lovely thought.Yeah the gen next Gurus keep harping…let go! let go! little realising that there are some so close to us that eventually letting go seems JUST TOO SAD rather letting in sounds better and feels best.
Can’t forget the thrill and excitement of Chithi aayee hai, chithee ayyee hai.
Postcards the yellow ones didn’t even need tearing the folds and the contents devoured without a wink.
Do that Lakshmi…post a card for urself. 🙂
… so much peace far away from the fast n intensed metro life ! One should take a break for it when ever possible 🙂
awesome! Tell me the address, i will mail you 😀
Nothing beats an old fashioned letter.
I so agree with this… Hence i still write letters….to penpals around the world.
