Hi Lakshmi!
Interesting initiative the Carnival of cities… 😉
Great pictures of the market!
One day I’ll visit Chennai…
And the last pictures from Coorg are also wonderful!!
Thanks for your comments on Blogtrotter, now at the Michigan Law School! Hope you take pleasure in it and wish you a great week!
Lakshmi,
Thanks for the link for the carnival of cities, it was an engaging read and I learnt a few things, that they dont show on Travel channel
As to your post, to tell you the truth, I had tears in my eyes. Being a mylaporean for 16 years, the streets, sounds and flavors captured brought back so many memories. I can close my eyes to remember the fragrance of camphor mixed with roses, on the street adjoining Kapaleeshwar kovil, all the way to ambika applam
Hmm! I can say that’s creative photography 🙂
I checked the link it was really nice to find a great collective effort.
carnivals are fun, nice photo
Congrats Lakshmi. The links at Wendy’s are indeed interesting.
Beautiful capture!
Was this taken at Besi beach or somewhere along the ECR?
yes– very good photo…Lakshmi…I’m thinking…you should get a wide-angle lens!
Hi Lakshmi….I’ve had to do a bit of catching up…I always enjoy the photos of the countryside, and villages…but, my favorite is when you photograph the beautiful people..I especially like it when you can get smiles as you captured on one gentleman…Various styles of clothing is most interesting…the marketplace reminds me of our American flea markets..Thank you for sharing… Good blessings for the day ….Dee Dee
Lovely
The artwork on the boats reminds me of those on the old Indian trucks.
Reeta – Thanks for the comment..good to see you after a long time
Sayani -Thanks..glad you enjoyed reading them
Gil – Thank you. I hope to see you in Chennai soon. The market is today more organised in villages than in cities . The carnival is Wendy’s initiative as she hosted it..I just participated ..I just visited your space and as usual, its amazing
Anu – I understand the thought..being just 350 kms away, I miss Madras or Chennai everyday..the sights and the sounds of Mylpore and Alwarpet where I lived although my folks still live near Egmore/Vepery, for me madras is synonymous with Mylapore and Alwarpet..
Alok , Ropi , Celine – Thank you. Im glad you liked the posts
Sameera -Its in Marina, actually Santhome beyond the Lighthouse area
Mark – Yes, I miss having one in my basic digital camera..the zoom and the wide angle lens are my basic needs now..saving to get a brand new camera by Dec..any suggestions?
Deedee – Thanks for sharing your thoughts..Im happy that Im able to showcase some aspects of India to you ..Its colourful and vibrant and these local people are mainly in villages ..city bred people are so different from the those in the countryside though
Gopal – Thank you ..Thats Chennai/Madras for you
Shantanu – Yes, thats so true ..its a great observation..thanks for sharing
