300 and more – would like your feedback

In the last  couple of months, Ive been travelling rather extensively and some of these overseas trips have been rather unplanned. The Singapore trip was rather a surprise and then I decided to add Bali along with it at the last minute as Borneo and Cambodia, my initial choices did not quite work out. My trip to Hong Kong was a family trip – again, a last minute affair .All three islands have been very different from each other . The journeys have also been very different in nature. So, while I start  posting about these destinations here, I  wanted to know your thoughts on what you would like to read

– Would you prefer first hand experiences and narratives or articles that I write for other publications ?
– Would you prefer photo features ?
– May be you would like short snippets and insights into sights and sounds of a country ?
– Or just little things that interested me about a place ?
– Probably you would prefer a guide book style – what to do, where to go..
– Maybe you would like to hear more about people than places..

Its just that I realized that after  four years of backpacker  and  with more than 300 posts, blogging is more about being reader focussed than just personal trivia. This does not mean that I will stop posting the way I am doing currently, but some feedback from all of you would be deeply appreciated in the comments sections . Thanks for being around .

I like your blogs, the Singapore one was a bit fleeting, or maybe its because I live here and know too much! I’d like a nice mix of pictures and text that outline your personal experience, what you may found unique, I guess that does show in your blog currently too. Maybe titbits of info not found on guidebooks. All in all, the blog is quite informative.

I think you’re doing a wonderful job as it is. My preference would be stories of people, of places… your experience as a narrative.

I think Guidebooks are all over the place, aren’t they?

I agree with vj and shooting star – a mix of everything would be nice! While it is important to be reader focussed, following one’s gut and writing about what moved/inspired/interested you the most is, I think, the best approach. Your passion and enthusiasm will come through best that way.
I love your blog, so I will be happy with whatever you share with us!

I have been reading your blog for quite some time and like it the way it already is.

Yes, I would like if you did more photo features.

Also, I would like to know more details of places off-the-trodden path. If its a regular touristy place like Singapore, its not necessary that you add details of where to go and when and stuff like that.. but a link to one good resource that already covers it is just fine.

I really liked your posts on Pallava cave hunting / beyond the Halebid temples. This is what makes me keep coming back I guess. More of such interesting and curiosity-kindling posts please!

Congratulations & thanks for giving us such a great page with your experience around.

I am loving the way it is. Do keep the photo features, how-to-get-there stuffs & also about the people/culture of the places you visit, as much as possible.

When you are asking us as readers, I would like to ask one persistent and obviously pertinent question which may be persuasive to you that why you have not been answering or replying the queries/ opinions expressed by us. I like your blog and that’s why I intend to write here. Please continue in your style but reduce photos. Don’t make your blog as photo feature. This is my opinion. All the best. Regards.

I’d like personal narratives and a good balance of text/pictures.

I’d like to add that I really like your features on off-beat places.
I don’t think you need to put in information like guidebooks do, but when you go to such places, it would be good if you could just add a note or two about where you stayed there and the contact info of the tour guides. Especially tour guides, as it is so difficult to find good ones!

Congratulations Lakshmi! I love what you are doing now and I like your style. I’m not a fan of directional posts (where to go what to do), more of a reflectional or observational posts.
