Thanjavur -The Big Temple against the sky


The 216 feet high Vimana (tower )of the Big Brihadeshwara Temple seems to be touching the sky in Thanjavur in interior Tamil Nadu. Built in the 11th century, by Raja Raja Chola 1 of the Chola Dynasty , this temple is one of its kind in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site called The Great Living Chola temples .

    My eyes got to the building, and I forgot he sky. Never seen this is my live, ande never heard of it eather. So this was ineresting reading, thank you.

    That’s a great site must visit ones. To me this temple is a wonder man made in history, and amazing the story said behind its construction! Nice shot.

    Really beautiful – the carvings are amazing and the sky looks like rain. Very nice “composition” with the diagonal line dividing the temple and sky. and then that one little bird. Great SWF! And thanks for your visit to mine.
